Biography:

This actor held this name from 1741 to 10/1782. There is only one print in the Lyon Collection, a Shunshō from 1769, showing Utaemon I acting under this name. However, there are approximately 61 prints in this collection which feature Utaemon I's natural son, Utaemon III (1778-1838). His adopted son was Nakamura Utanosuke II (dates unknown).
