Biography:

This actor held this name from March 1935 until his death in June 1989. His father was Matsumoto Kōshirō VII (1870-1949). His brothers were Matsumoto Kōshirō VIII (1910-82) and Ichikawa Danjūrō XI (1909-65).

Onoe Shōroku II was one of the best tachiyaku of the Shōwa era. His physical appearance evoked the great aragotoshi of the Genroku era.
