Art Institute of Chicago - a related Shunshō print
Museum of Fine Arts, Boston via Ukiyo-e.org - triptych of a similar scene
Museum of Fine Arts, Boston - a Toyokuni III triptych of an imaginary scene Soga no Gorō can usually be identified by his costume which is decorated with butterflies, a symbol of the Soga family. This figure may be from the play Tsukisenu Haru Hagoromo Soga or one related to it.

However, some of this information is called into question by the similar print by Shunshō from the Art Institue of Chicago that we added to this page. They describe that print as 'Ichikawa Monnosuke II as Ageha no Chokichi Disguised as Soga no Goro Tokimune in the Play Kaido Ichi Yawaragi Soga'. The question is: Is the print in the Lyon Collection an image of an actor in the role of Soga no Goro or is it of Ageha no Chokichi wearing his clothes as a disguise?
