Biography:

This actor held this name from 1749 until his death on the 12th day of the 9th month of 1799. Born in Osaka, he was the adopted son of Yamashita Kinsaku I (died 1750). His brother was Nakamura Shingorō II (1747-77). His sons were Yamashita Mangiku I and Yamashita Masajirō. His adopted sons were Yamashita Mansaku and Yamashita Kinsaku III (dates unknown).

Kinsaku II was a famous onnagata trained by a famous onnagata, Nakamura Tomijūrō I (1719-86). Tomijūrō was the actor who gave Kinsaku his first stage name, Nakamura Handayū.
