In Japanese Colour Prints by Laurence Binyon and J.J. O'Brien Sexton, published by Charles Scribner's Sons it says "Katsukawa Shunkyoku started his career about 1779 as an illustrator of kibyoshi , in which he proved himself to have been a clever artist* In these he follows the style of Shigemasa rather than that of Shunsho. He does not appear to have worked beyond 1785-1786 ; and so far only one print — a hashirakake signed Katsukawa Shunkyoku and reproduced in the Happer sale catalogue, London, 29th April, 1909, on Plate XX, No* 532 — has been recorded* Dates of birth and death are unknown*"
