Biography:

This actor held this name from 1823 until 12/1837 when he took the (same) name as simply Ichikawa Sukejūrō in Ōsaka.

Ichikawa Sukejūrō IV was prominent 19th century Kamigata tachiyaku actor, who achieved fame for himself in Ōsaka in the 1840s and the 1850s. He was the zagashira of the Ōnishi no Shibai for quite a long time. He was said to be wealthy and was the owner of a successful bathhouse located near the Ebisu bridge in Ōsaka.
