Biography:

Kiyosada Torii was an Edo printmaker who had specialized in actor prints. He was a student of Kiyomine Torii.

Hendrick Lühl wrote in 'An Album of Osaka Actor Prints' in Andon 98, December 2014, p. 50: "Kiyosada, whose dates of birth and death are unknown, was originally probably also a pupil of Hirosada. Between the end of 1847 and the fifth month of 1848 he created several impressive bust portraits of actors comparable in quality to those of his master. Then he changed his name to Masanobu, presumably after a period of apprenticeship with Sadamasu... and worked under this name until c. 1853."
