Biography:

We know absolutely nothing about this artist except that he was active in 1834. Keyes in his Philadelphia catalogue tells us that the name Gyokushū (玉洲), the preferable pronunciation, can also be pronounced Tamakuni. This should not be confused with another artist in the Lyon Collection whose name is Tamikuni (多美).
